Andrew J. Carboy heads one of the Firm’s Complex Litigation departments.  Andy has served  as plaintiffs’ counsel in: 9/11 World Trade Center Disaster Site Litigation, prosecuting claims for respiratory illnesses sustained by firefighters and other rescue and recovery workers; litigation against the Port Authority arising from the 1993 World Trade Center bombing; New York Hemophilia litigation; and in cases concerning environmental contamination, including a 2006 lawsuit brought on behalf of over 700 members of a New Jersey Native American community against Ford Motor Company, as well as an action brought by a Long Island school district  for  damages resulting from a gasoline spill. Andy also  handles cases involving unsafe drugs, defective devices and other defective products. As a recognition of his effectiveness as an advocate, defense counsel in many of his cases often require that the terms of the resolution of those cases remain confidential. Mr. Carboy was part of a team of the Firm’s attorneys who recovered in excess of $260 million for 362 injured firefighters and families of fallen firefighters, pro bono, from the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund.  An effort that earned the Firm the National Law Journal’s 2004 Pro Bono Award. In addition to working with several organizations serving New York City’s immigrant communities, Andy is a member of the Alumni Board of the New York University School of Law from which he graduated in 1992; African Affairs Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York; New York State Trial Lawyers Association; and American Association for Justice.
