SPBMC was proud to sponsor the 21st Thurgood Marshall Junior Mock Trial Competition
June 25, 2018 in Blog
SPBMC was proud to sponsor the Competition, founded in 1997, which introduces hundreds of middle school students to the judicial system and exposes them to careers in the law. Volunteer lawyers coach the students over the course of four months to prepare them for roles as prosecutors, defense attorneys, witnesses, and jurors. During the competition, actual judges preside over the mock trials, and court officers and stenographers staff the courtrooms.
Managing Partner T.J. McManus and Associate Steve Fils-Aime were honored to both observe one of the trials in action and to attend the Competition’s closing ceremony.
SPBMC applauds the organizers, coaches, courtroom staff and all of the honorable judges for their commitment and passion. We also commend the competition’s founder – Judge Elizabeth A. Taylor- for building such a tremendous program and tirelessly working to make sure it continues to be such a success each year. Moreover, we congratulate all of the participating students on their excellent work!
