May 18, 2022 in Negligence, Personal Injury
On Sunday, May 8th, two NYC police officers were injured due to the negligence of another driver. The accident occurred around 10:45 p.m. near 64th Street and Eighth Avenue in Brooklyn, NY.
The officers were driving, with their lights and sirens on, to the scene of a fight when the driver, a 39-year-old woman, failed to yield to the police car. Her negligence caused the police car to crash into a pole, resulting in the car catching fire.
The officers were taken to NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn. Fortunately, both officers involved in the crash did not have life-threatening injuries.
The woman initially fled the scene, but then returned and was taken into custody. Officials stated that she was convicted of fleeing the scene of an accident that involved injuries.
Reckless driving is a careless act. It’s a clear violation of a driver’s responsibility to keep others on the road safe.
